“Wonderland”, Colored Pencil on Paper Mounted Panel, 16 in X 20 in, 2025
Hexum Gallery is pleased to present Easy Lovers, a solo exhibition of new works by New York City–based artist Jared Freshman.
The show will be on view from February 6 through March 20th. This will be Freschman's first solo exhibition with the gallery and follows his 2025 residency at Ca' d'la Völp in Northern Italy.
Freschman works with colored pencil on paper mounted to wood panel, producing vibrant, jewel toned drawings withcontrolled gradients and tightly built compositions. Figures, flora, fruit, interiors, and decorative motifs appear in vivid palettes that recall technicolor cinema and the staged drama of European painting. Orbs of color and soft vibrations move across the surfaces, referencing spiritual energy and contemporary aura photography. This combination of scale, color, and staging gives the works a narrative charge that feels cinematic in mood and oddly private in scale.
